Whether you are looking for some business casual outfit inspiration for the office or looking to elevate your weekend looks, today I am sharing how to style a wardrobe staple that is sure to make an impact either way.
A classic blazer is a wardrobe staple, and everyone should have at least one good one in their closet. Especially in classic black, blazers offer outfit versatility, easily able to elevate a casual look or dressing them down by pairing it with a pair of distressed denim, a graphic tee, and some sneakers. As much as I love to style a blazer for a more casual look, today I am sharing how layering one can upgrade a basic look, adding instant chic factor!
Some of my favorite recent blazer finds have been from Walmart of all places! I picked up this creamy white blazer first, layering it over a simple black tank and paired it with frayed hem jeans, (also a Walmart find), strappy heeled sandals and accessorized with a black satchel bag. The completed look instantly looks and feels more luxe, especially with the gold button details. If your office is more of a corporate vibe or doesn’t participate in casual Fridays, you can just as easily dial it up a notch even further by pairing it with a silk or lace trim cami, pencil skirt, and some pointed toe pumps.
I was super impressed by the look and quality of this blazer, a strong contender for some of my favorite double breasted button front blazers from Express. But at a fraction of the price, I had to pick one up in black as well! As a native New Yorker I cannot escape the monochromatic all black look. I styled the same metallic button blazer, this time in black with my favorite faux leather leggings, over the knee suede boots for an edgier vibe.
As an honorable mention, a wool blazer coat or jacket is a solid investment piece that will be an even more versatile workhorse staple. Because it’s technically puterwear and less of a fixed layered piece, the options to style it over vsarying looks is endless. Here I styled the jacket over all black; a turtleneck and distressed skinny jeans. Basic to chic instantly!
