With Summer at our doorstep I can’t help but feel a bit sad to put away all of my warm, cozy sweaters and stow them away until September arrives. I always try to incorporate summer sweaters into my wardrobe that act as transitional pieces in addition to fashion statements. New York is known for it’s ever changing climate and weather patterns so despite the high temperatures the summer’s do bring, evenings tend to get a big chilly, especially if you’re near an ocean or lake. For this blog post, I decided to share with you guys my favorite summer sweater and a little explanation of how to style it with shorts.
What initially drew me into this open stitch dolman sleeve sweater was the beautiful colors it’s available in! I am a big neutral gal, with some pops of leopard sprinkled into my looks, so I really loved this cocoa or ‘wren grey’ as Express deems it, color in the sweater. But, I also fell in love with the light green colorway as well. But that colorway is for another time and another outfit to discuss! I happen to really enjoy the richness of this color brown against a black jean or dark denim short as it makes the cocoa color really come alive. Pro tip, when buying summer sweaters, always, and I mean ALWAYS, opt for either a light weight material or a crochet/open hole option. It will keep you cool and warm at the same time, plus it will keep your outfit looking on point.
When styling a summer sweater, I always gravitate to a great pair of denim cut off shorts, I loved these from Express as they fit true to size and completed my outfit look. Plus, these shorts are currently on sale at Express for only $29! I will advise, these do have a low rise fit. If you tend to like the fit of a mid-rise or high-rise denim, these may not be the best option for you. I completed my look with this adorable Neutral Coin Fringe Clutch. In my opinion, the clutch paired with these super comfortable wedge espadrilles totally took my outfit to the next level and gave it an edgier, dressier feel. Espadrilles are my summer time heels, there is no shoe more comfortable than an espadrille wedge, plus they totally give your outfit a dressier, easy going feel that usually completes an unfinished look.
Don’t forget to use code ‘8152’ to receive $25 off of $100 at Express!
