I don’t know about you, but I will never turn down the opportunity to eat freshly made guacamole and chips while sipping on a margarita! While I was in London I made sure to stop by Ella Canta, a modern and authentic Mexican cuisine restaurant with a diverse menu with something for everyone. This spot may be tucked away in the corner of the intercontinental, but don’t let that deter you! The owner, chef Martha Ortiz was inspired by her country’s “colours, textures, stories and spirit,” according to the website. Within the walls of this Mexican restaurant is the perfect blend of Mexico and high end dining.

The contemporary and traditional design of the restaurant was so beautiful it may have been my favorite part. I love that they offer vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options so everyone who comes in can enjoy! How awesome is that?

I, of course, started off with the guacamole, along with the quesadillas multi-color which were filled with the most delicious wild mushrooms, zucchini flowers, poblano chiles, beef and cheeses. Yum! How can you ever say no to cheese? These were so full of flavor that I wish I ordered even more! I also made sure to order the prawns and octopus which were so fantastic and I highly recommend anyone, including the non-fish lovers, to try out! The octopus came with the most incredible peanut sauce to dip it with and the prawns mango salsa was out of the world!

Next, I indulged in the pollo de leche adobodo with pickled red onion and fresh avocado. The chicken was slow roasted and cooked so well I would have gotten another to go if I wasn’t so full! Picky eater or not, this is the perfect place for everyone to try if they are in the Mayfair area.

Come for the guacamole and quesadilla, stay for the authentic margaritas! If you’re in the market for an authentic taste of Mexico while in London make sure to check them out. Without a doubt the next time I make my way over to London I will definitely be dining at Ella Canta, and think that you totally should too!
