I never thought I would ever visit Lithuania, but I was excited that it was a stop on Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of The Sea’s. Packing for this Baltic cruise was a little difficult. While it is the beginning of summer back in New York, I wanted to pack all of my summer clothing. But the average summer weather in June in Lithuania is about 68 degrees, which means it’s still a little on the cold side. In the summer months of June, July and August where it is their warmer months, although there can be heavy rains, it can still be chilly some days. It is key to wear layers to adjust to the temperatures. Make sure to pack a raincoat and umbrella just in case as they are known to have a lot of rain.
Where we ate:
Katpedele
This traditional Lithuanian restaurant is definitely worth the stop. We sat in a enclosed patio since it was a chilly day. They offered local beer and traditional food, which was a ton of potatoes! The menu was broken down into 3 sections based on history. There was an ancient grain, which had old school traditional food. From the first section, we tried the blueberry dumplings which were very good and worth trying; something you wouldn’t think to combine but it tasted great. The potato pancakes with bacon were one of my favorites!
