WHERE TO STAY:

Waldorf Astoria Orlando
Address: 14200 Bonnet Creek Resort Ln, Orlando, FL 32821
Phone Number: (407) 597-5500

Disney is not just the happiest place on Earth for children, it’s also the happiest place on Earth for this 30-something year old Disney lover! Whenever the pressures of life start to take a toll on me I know it’s time for me to hit pause on life and give myself a much needed vacation from the crazy.  Most people would opt for a tropical island with sand, sun and adult beverages. But, not this girl! Give me Mickey, Cinderella’s palace and some deliciously, magical food options, preferably donuts, and I am the happiest girl in the world.

For Disney, I always book my stay at the luxurious, Waldorf Astoria Orlando.  It’s a 5-star resort that is both upscale and family friendly! Waldorf Astoria Orlando is now an Official Walt Disney World Resort, which means guests can enjoy extra “Magic Hour” perks!  This allows guests only to enter the park at an earlier time or allows guests to stay an hour later than regular park seekers – be sure to check the calendar to see what day’s extra magic hours are permitted! Magic Hour will not be offered until this upcoming Fall – so book your stay now, to take full advantage of this offer!  The Waldorf Astoria also allows you to book your fast pass 60 days in advance , where it used to be only 30 days in advance.

CABANA RENTALS:

The pool area at the Waldorf, like the rest of the hotel, is a luxurious experience. Not only is the landscape beautiful, with comfortable chairs + cabanas that are available for rental, but the staff is also extremely attentive and personable.

I rented a cabana the first time I stayed at the Waldorf, and there was just no turning back! I like that me and my friends had the option of our own, shaded space to ourselves–that could keep a few drinks and a fruit tray cold in the mini fridge, and that the amenities were just so comfy! The cocktail menu and food menu does not disappoint! Be sure to check out my favorite drink (pictured below) the Prosecco Popsicle!

PLACES TO EAT:

Peacock Ally
The restaurant options on the Waldorf Astoria premises are top notch, so you won’t have to go searching off the grounds for a meal to remember. I’ll mention two in this article–first up, Peacock Alley! Peacock Ally (landmark restaurant in New York) is located right in the center of the Waldorf Astoria’s main lobby. In the morning time, snag a specialty espresso and croissant (yum!) During lunch or dinner, select from their multitude of small plate options for a fun mixing/sharing experience with your family and friends (if you’re into sharing, that is!) Peacock Alley also has a very fun cocktail menu with plenty of Instagram-able libations.

Bull & Bear

When it comes to staying at the Waldorf Astoria, I see Bull & Bear as the piece de resistance! I look forward to coming here every time! Perfect for a very special date night or celebratory dinner with the family, Bull & Bear is quite an experience.

Winner of the Hilton’s Diner’s Top Choice, Bull & Bear’s menu features “re-imagined steakhouse classics,” and is known for its tableside preparations. The dining area is intimate and beautiful with, get this, views of Epcot’s nightly fireworks show! How amazing is that? Definitely the frosting on the cake.

Although one might think to stick to the steaks at Bull & Bear, I’m here to tell you that you (or someone at your table–the portions are very shareable!) must get the fried chicken and mashed potatoes! My mouth is watering just typing about it! It is unlike any other fried chicken I’ve ever had–tender, the best flavor, and melts right in your mouth. The mashed potatoes come with a rich, brown gravy–and while this combo doesn’t sound “fancy,” Bull & Bear manages to make it that way!

THE ROOM

Okay, so you’re full from Bull & Bear, you’re tired from walking around the park all day, now it’s time to shower and fall into a deep sleep in the comforts of, what I consider, a 5-star room! At the Waldorf, attention to detail in terms of hotel design and staff training is key. That definitely shows in the rooms + room service. Also, I keep joking that I want to steal the pillows they provide but, they won’t fit in my carry-on 😉

THE  SPA

Lastly, for the adults who could use a spa day, the Waldorf Astoria has now added a Himalayan Salt Room to their world-class spa.  But wait, there’s more! Enjoy rejuvenating your skin, body and mind by pairing your Salt Room therapy session with a magnificent Himalayan Salt Stone Massage.  This combination together is wonderful and will leave you feeling refreshed and ready to take on your next day at the park!
