Like many, summer is looking very different this year. I forgoed my usual seasonal vacation and am not getting out much these days, but one thing that is getting me through quarantine life is some self care evenings and “getting ready” at home.

Something that is always a solid mood booster is refreshing my beauty wardrobe and getting new products to try. For a minimal cost, getting a new shade of lipstick or gloss brings a little joy to my routine. Recently I shopped Walmart for some new goodies to try. I was on the hunt for some new lip shades for summer and wanted something with a tinge more color that my usual go to neutrals. I thought this Laura Geller Nude Kisses lips gloss duo was perfect. Still very much neutral shades for my taste, but a light “kiss” of color in complementing shades that you can either layer or wear each on their own.

Similarly, this Cargo Essential lip color in Bermuda is a light nude pink shade but in a more rich and intense color payoff as the gloss combo. I’m usually not a fan of heavy lipsticks so I was pleasantly surprised to find this formula had a lightweight feel, and was both moisturizing and plumping. I have never tried Cargo Cosmetics before, but the smooth and creamy formula of this lipstick makes me want to try more from this line!

Come every summer, I can’t live without my favorite self tanner, and the bronzey glow I get is usually what I depend on for adding some color to my skin, but sometimes I want something a little extra. The Revlon Photoready Insta-Blush sticks are the perfect sheer cream to powder formula for summer days. The creamy, easy to blend formula that won’t get cakey on your skin makes application fool proof and I love that it can be easily applied on the go for a light and natural kiss of color.

I was happy with all my new finds, including my last honorable mention: this Neutrogena Clarify and Shine shampoo and conditioner. I had to include this duo because I love how clean it left my hair without it feeling weighed down. I naturally have oily, pin straight hair so finding the right hair products can be a struggle. These clarify and exfoliate my oily scalp and hair and boosts shine without the heaviness of other conditioners. Added perk is the light grapefruit scent; great for early morning showers, and Bear approves!

  1. I do a lot of my beauty purchases at Walmart, since they have such low prices. I really like that I can find a lot of my drugstore favorites there – and they’ve got some unique beauty brands that I usually forget even exist but are actually pretty fantastic!
