A friend recommended Taste of Asia because it’s a new local hot spot, and I’m so happy she did! When Brittany came to visit Long Island a few weeks ago, I decided to try a few new restaurants with her. T.O.A Asian Fusion restaurant in Farmingdale was one of them. The restaurant is a little east of Main Street in the newly developed section of Farmingdale conveniently located right next to the train station.
About half of the seating is outdoors making it a great destination on days with good weather. Inside has a very zen calming atmosphere; perfect for date night. If you are headed there on a Friday or Saturday afternoon, I would highly recommend reservations.
You can easily place an order online for pickup or delivery, and they give you 15% off for doing so. They offer free delivery on orders over $15 and they always deliver quick even during peak times. They have an excellent lunch menu for under $10 and if you sit at the bar for happy hour, they have over ten appetizers such as sushi rolls and edamame for only $5 each! If you sit at the bar ask for Xavier, he is one of the best and friendliest servers I’ve had in a while!
We started our night by ordering their signature cocktails. The lychee martini and the coconut margarita. For appetizers we ordered 4 different dishes. We ordered crab rangoon, which is a deep-fried Asian dumpling stuffed with cream cheese and crab meat. “Crunchy Crunchy Crunchy”, which is spicy tuna layered with crispy wasabi seaweed crackers with eel sauce and wasabi mayo. We also had spring rolls and pan fried pork buns.
For our main courses we ordered the crispy chicken dish which is one of my favorite dishes to order at most Asian restaurants. We also had the sushi & sashimi combo for one, which had 5 pieces assorted sushi and 10 pieces of sashimi with a shrimp tempura roll. For sides we ordered Vegetable lo mein and fried rice.
Even tho we had no room for dessert, we decided to split two: The pineapple sorbet and the chocolate molten lava cake. I am so happy we decided to have dessert because I absolutely loved the pineapple sorbet.
The service is as excellent as the food is tasty. If you are looking for clean tasty asian food not like the heavy greasy food from your local take out, I would definitely recommend trying Taste of Asia.
