We’re only a few days into August, but for many that’s when all the back to school everything makes their way to storefronts and shelves everywhere.
I don’t have any kids so I am obviously not shopping for littles, but I had several requests from some of my Instagram followers to share some dorm room inspo. So whether you’re helping your teen get ready for their big move later this month, or you yourself are looking to shop dorm life essentials, hopefully this post offers some practical (but cute), budget friendly finds from Target to help the process go a little smoother!
And just a quick disclaimer; this post may be dedicated to furnishing and styling college dorm rooms, but ALL of these pieces can easily function in a myriad of kid, tween and teen spaces! So many of these work for small spaces, like this computer desk with a minimal footprint (because let’s be honest, most dorm rooms are glorified closets that you STILL have to share!). There’s also plenty of versatile and modular storage options to keep things tidy and organized.
Target has always been awesome at offering all the college bound needs, and their Room Essentials line is where it’s at for all the basics; from bath caddy bundles to affordable and durable bed linens like their jersey and microfiber sheet sets.
If you have ever stepped foot inside a dorm room, you know how drab the cookie cutter furnishings and bland walls can be. Although all the major pieces are supplied (bed, closet, maybe a desk), it offers minimal storage and lacks ALL the personality. Having the essentials doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style, so injecting some color and fun things to amp up the coziness factor is a fun process for many who are out on their own for the first time in their lives.
