Have you ever thought about all the mini decisions you make when it comes to styling an outfit or putting a look together?

When we think about putting pieces together to style a full look, many often think about the season, current trends, colors and patterns playing together. Something I have been playing around more with lately is incorporating different textures into my looks. On today’s post, I’ll be sharing some examples of these looks and the recent purchases I made to help achieve them.

Some seasonal textures are obvious, long time favorites. Think suede and corduroy for the fall or wool and cashmere in winter just to name a few. Considering this, I have tried to be more intentional about mixing some summer season friendly textures into my outfits and how I can incorporate out of season faves (like chunky knits) into my looks.

Cardigans have always been a die hard favorite for me regardless of the season, so I always try to find a way to make them look intentional in the obviously warmer summer months. This mixed yarn boyfriend cardigan is the perfect summer knit (at least for me)! The sandy and creamy tones give me all the beachy vibes and the open knit weave makes it a lightweight summer layering option.

Lightweight ruffles and lace give feminine interest and all the breezy boho feels in this Free People Adella cami and skater style summer dress from Amazon. Both feature intricate crochet lace details and romantic ruffles that make both pieces much more interesting and a nice break from your hard working solid basics.

Espadrilles will forever be the shoe favorite of summer. In addition to the sandy toned straw woven details that lend well to the summer season, they do double duty in providing that height so many of us girls need to wear out favorite maxi dresses and skirts. I recently picked up a an even slide option and a strappy wedge for added height and I have been loving both.

Whether you’re incorporating textures into your wardrobe pieces or in your shoes or accessories like this bamboo clutch, it’s fun to play around with the different options and how see versatile some of them can be to interchange between looks. Just have fun with it!

  1. Your cardigans are calling my name. I wear cardigans no matter what season it is, because I hate the heat, so I don’t spend any time outside in the summer. Cardigans are a must in my cool home hehe!

  2. Loving your summer finds, and the staples you have (lacey bra is my favorite) and the wedges are so cute. I am going to add a few of these into my cart. Are we ever going to be allowed to really travel??

  3. Soooo cute! Love that bathing suit and the dresses! I think I need them all!

  4. I’m loving these cozy cardigans. Sadly Houston is already TOO hot and humid to even consider one right now.

  5. Such beautiful textures. I love how you layer your jewelry with lace and knit wear.
