Here at The House of Sequins headquarters (aka my home, 😊), we’ve officially kicked off the summer season. For me, the season is full of outdoor entertaining, with plenty of fresh summer eats. During this past Memorial Day weekend, I hosted my first gathering at my place in Florida. I shared some deets about it in a recent post you can check out here. Today however, I’m sharing all about a neighborhood potluck I participated in during that same weekend. I made a super easy appetizer you might consider serving at your next get-together with fresh produce all from Walmart!

I love a fresh salad anytime, but I especially enjoy a cool dish on a hot summer day. As part our neighborhood block party, residents came together for a potluck feast. I volunteered to bring a starter or appetizer, so I went with my festive take on a traditional caprese salad. It’s a simple layered masterpiece of fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and basil, and a crowd favorite. As I mentioned, I shopped all the goods at my convenience from my Walmart app! People often shop Walmart for their fridge and pantry staples, but they forget they also offer tons of fresh produce.

I don’t know about you, but time is money. I much rather do a one-stop-shop than travel around town to different stores getting everything I need. But with Walmart, you get it all the fresh and delicious items in one app without having to go anywhere. They carry the same seasonal, organic and sustainably sourced groceries you know & love. The difference? Items are priced at a lot less. And you can get quality ingredients from the same place you get all your staples.

Fresh summer eats was the theme, so I opted for a caprese starter. I used all fresh ingredients I got from Walmart. I sliced some juicy heirloom tomatoes, layered on some sweet, organic basil and fresh mozzarella. For a fun take, I cut the cheese into festive star shapes. I then drizzled a balsamic glaze and served on a pretty wooden cutting board. The result made for a lovely presentation! And as an added bonus, I also contributed some free range chicken breasts for the community BBQ. The salad is a perfect complement to some savory grilled chicken, and everyone loved it!

Next time you find yourself hosting this summer, consider shopping all your fresh grocery needs from Walmart online. And with the Walmart app, it’s even easier!

Happy shopping! 😊
