The House of Sequins

Chic, Southwestern and Moroccan Home Style

Recently I asked my Instagram followers on what home related content they were interested in seeing more of and I was pleased that some of the comments were hyper specific. I know home decor is personal, and never a one size fits all. Having said that, I appreciate when retailers catalogue similar items and styles together, allowing a decor newbie like me to get a feel for a “look.”

The more home inspired content I create, the more I get the feel for styling spaces (or more accurately, mood boards). So although I try to keep similar themed items grouped together to create something cohesive, they are simply jumping off points to draw inspiration from. And I’ve said it before, but it’s worth saying again that you do not have to feel trapped in any one style. If you take a look around your own home spaces, you can probably identify different decor styles sprinkled about even if you’ve focused on a specific theme. And like fashion, you make it your own by mixing things up…that’s how the best statements are made!

As requested, I put together some Shabby Chic, French Country inspired looks. Many of these pieces would look right at home in some Boho themed spaces. Southwestern pieces can live happily among all things Farmhouse or even alongside country cabin styled spaces. Lastly, Moroccan is probably the most eclectic and new to me. I’m instinctively drawn to all the gold accents like this mirror, something I already love, but the style is rich with color and textures. Because of this, I think they make great accent pieces or a collection carefully curated gives all those world traveled vibes.

Playing around with different themes and taking little risks can make spaces look so interesting and I’m enjoying that process. Has quarantine  life inspired you to refresh your home’s look?

  1. You know I love that farmhouse section, and rustic pieces always look so good even if there’s a scratch or two. It’s excellent long-term!

  2. I definitely see myself gravitating towards the first collection! Such pretty pieces.

  4. Oohh this style is different and fun! The way you put it all together made me see how it could look in a space! Thank you for sharing! Xo
