If you grew up on Long Island, chances are you have been to Adventureland. After all, it is one of the most iconic places to visit on Long Island. I have been going to Adventureland since I was little. This is a great little amusement park for toddlers and very young children. If you didn’t grow up on Long Island but have seen the movie Adventureland, it is based on a true story about the director Greg Mottola’s summer jobs that he worked on Long Island. This iconic park being one of the jobs. Staying cute, comfortable, and dry can be a struggle at an amusement park. Picking what to wear at an amusement park does not have to be so hard! Here is a list of recommendations on what to wear head to toe for a day at a theme park.
Head:
Hats are essential for avoiding a sunburnt face. The best kinds of hats are the ones that adjust in the back and will stay on your head while riding some rides. Remember to take them off if you’re going on a roller coaster. My favorite hat to wear to parks is my black Clean Up NY Yankees Baseball cap. It is adjustable in the back and only $25.
Shoes:
What is the perfect shoe to wear to an amusement park? That’s a tricky question. Some days I go for sandals or flip flops and other days I go for tennis shoes and socks. It depends on my mood. Whichever makes you most comfortable so that you can ride water rides and all rides without soaking your socks and shoes the whole day. You can always bring a back up pair of shoes and store them in a locker. I opted to wear my Superga Cotu Sneakers since they are casual and comfy!
Outfit:
What kind of shirt is best to wear to an amusement park in the summer depends on the temperature of the day and whatever is most comfortable. Loose fitting tank tops, t-shirts, and blouses are perfect for warm days, while on cooler days, a hoodie is just perfect. Since it wasn’t the hottest day, I decided to wear my Malo Embroidered Button Blouse by KAS New York. This vibrant blouse with flowy pleats and ruffled bell sleeves were perfect to keep me cool. The best bottoms to wear to a theme park are athletic shorts or leggings because they’re comfortable for walking around all day. Denim shorts are always a good choice to wear, since you won’t have to worry about adjusting yourself or sticking to any rides when you are hot. I wore my Free People Good Vibes Lace Hem Denim Shorts. With the raggedy hems patched up with crochet lace, they are the perfect shorts for a sunny day adventure.
Face Protection:
Remember to pack sunglasses as they are an essential for any sunny day at an amusement park to avoid squinting. Sunscreen, hand sanitizer, and baby wipes are also great to have. I packed my 50mm Mod Star Round Sunglass by Quay Australia and they are only $50. I also packed my Suncare Sport Sunscreen Spray SPF 30 by Coola Suncare.
