NYFW 2016.

When it is hot out and the streets are filled with well dressed fashion lovers on the streets of NYC then you know that New York fashion week has officially begun.

Tips on what to wear to NYFW:

What to wear to is definitely the biggest question for anyone attending fashion week. Are you ever shopping in the mall and you think to yourself “ where could I ever wear this funky piece to “ well have no fear! That is what fashion week is all about! I was told for fashion week that less is more or more is more and the fashion world is your oyster. Make sure when picking out your outfits to be a bit more glamorous than how you usually dress on a regular daily basis. Make sure all your outfits still fit your personal style so you will feel like yourself. Don’t feel that you have to wear only designer pieces when attending shows and just let that funky side come out and have fun!

Tips: COMFORTABLE SHOES are almost a must! Getting from show to show at New York Fashion week isn’t easy. I carried around a larger bag to throw my flip flops in. After each show we would catch an uber to head to the next event and i’d throw those bad boys on my feet. Good thing that flats and sneakers are on trend at the moment. Make sure before getting out of your car to throw back on your fashionable shoes. I noticed a ton of photographers taking shots of funky shoes!

Apparently the best accessory is a stylish friend like Brittany. Who needs a Celine bag for a picture when fashion friends make for the best street style photos. Besides taking great photos I honestly couldn’t have survived NYFW without her and god bless her for putting up with me for five days!

Desigual re-created snapchat filters on the Runway at New York Fashion Week 2016 and they where definitely  my favorites to watch. Who doesn’t get a good giggle when playing around with snapchat filters? I know I do! Models for the Spanish brand’s Spring 2017 ready to wear collection walked the runway in embroidered jackets and skirts while sporting makeup and inspired snapchat lenses. If you follow me on snapchat (houseofsequin) I pretty much filmed the whole show! Make sure to follow along for the next shows.

My friend and fellow Long Island Blogger Michael Morgon pictured above was killing it all week in his NYFW outfits. He single handedly proved that New York is the best dressed city in the world! If you don’t follow Michael Morgon well you are missing out!

Best Places to Eat & Drink

Philippe Chow NYC

Let’s start with I LOVE Philippe Chow’s. They use to have a location on Long Island that I use to go to all the time so when I am in NYC it is a must go to for upscale Chinese food. If you like good Chinese well look no further this is the place for you! The service is always good and the food is always consistent and delicious every time I go. The main dish portions are kind of big and good for sharing. I highly recommend getting lettuce wraps and chicken satay for starters. For my main I normally go for either Kung Po chicken or crispy beef with a side of fried rice. If you love Chinese food like I do then you can’t really go wrong with anything on the menu.

Jack’s Wife Freda

This restaurant is almost a must for all bloggers to visit while in NYC. I always see it all over instagram so we had to see what all the hype was about. We waited about twenty minutes for a table so make sure to arrive early to avoid any lines. I ordered the Jack’s Burger and added some avocado on it to spruce things up. I hear it’s more of a breakfast and brunch place so I can’t wait to go back and try some eggs.

Milk Bar Momofuku

The cereal milk soft serve with crunch is a must have! It’s everything it sounds like and everything you hope it’s going to be. At first bite you are confused as to what the taste is. The flavor is so unique that there is nothing quite like that out there. After each bite you start to love it more and more and realize why it is so amazing! The ice cream is actually the milk and the cereal taste ofcaptain crunch. The shop is tiny and can only fit 3-4 people at a time so don’t expect to be seated. Each time I have went there hasn’t been a line but I have heard if there is that it goes very fast

The Butcher’s Daughter

We went on a Monday around 11am and there was no wait. I am normally not one to try a all vegetarian restaurant but this one is definitely worth trying but definitely a little more on the pricey side for what it is. I ordered the farm eggs with toast and soldiers and the honey bee grapefruit pressed juice.

Buvette

This pint sized restaurant is like a small piece of Paris. This has to be the closest thing to a genuine Parisian cafe that you can find in New York City.We ordered their croissants and oh my word! They are like little flakey pieces of heaven in your mouth. Since they don’t take reservations and you want to skip the lines just come a little before 10 am. The only complaint I have is that the space is very small and compact with most of the tables only seating for just two people. We had croissants with butter & raspberry jam, Belgian waffle topped with raspberries and multi-grain toast with smashed avocado, cucumber & spiced yogurt.

Chalait

Great coffee with very lovely latte art. I had a latte and Brittany had the matcha latte which is milk, matcha tea blend ( sugar, ground japanese green tea). Smooth and creamy matcha is lightly sweetened and served with steamed milk.
