If you are visiting Nyhavn like I did on Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of The Sea’s, then you should visit King’s Garden and Rosenborg Castle Gardens. If you visit just one park while in Copenhagen this should be it! The backdrop of the castle, sculptures and beautiful beds of flowers make this park even more beautiful. On a warm summer day, it is the perfect park to bring the family and walk around or even bring a blanket and enjoy a nice picnic.

If you are visiting the castle, you should buy tickets online in advance, which will help save time during peak season as they give you a time slot of when to enter. You must store any backpacks or large purses in the free lockers before entry as they are not allowed in. The lockers take 20kr coin, which you will receive back when you open the locker. Don’t worry, if you don’t have any coin’s, they will add that to your bill. They offer free wifi so you can use their website for details on the exhibits. If you need to use the restrooms, make sure you go before your tour time, as the lines can be long and the tour times are scheduled. If you end up doing a self-tour, make sure to grab a tour book for references and for extra information on certain rooms.

Inside the castle is an impressive collection of original furniture, tapestries, paintings, clocks and artifacts. Everything inside has been preserved in period appropriate decor. The castle is bigger inside than it appears from the outside. You can visit three floors and the basement which contain the crown jewels. The visit should take about two-three hours. Overall, the Rosenberg Castle can be easily accessed as it is right in central Copenhagen. This makes it an easy visit and worthwhile trip for an overview of the Danish Royal history.
