As promised in a previous post, I will continue to share my recent Disney World adventures, this time talking all about concocting yummy summer beverages and earning an honorary diploma at Sangria University!
So what exactly is it? Well guests at Sangria University learn directly from a sangria sommelier and enjoy tasting house-made sangrias paired with an appetizer while learning about the history of sangria. The highlight?… making your very own personalized Sangria! Classes take place at the lovely respite that is Three Bridges Bar & Grill at Villa del Lago, at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort.
The lakefront restaurant itself is inspired by dreamers, adventurers and explorers and evokes a “bygone era in which travelers shared epic tales over food and drink”. The establishment offers sweeping views of Lago Dorado from converging bridges—all three connecting the island of Villa del Lago with the Resort.
I attended a private class with a small group and during my sangria making class session, I learned about the history of the popular fruity wine cocktail while sampling all four of the restaurant’s house-made sangrias before creating my own. The drinks were all paired with complementing appetizers, giving you a taste of the venue’s popular eats. It was an immersive experience that enlightened me to the art of mixology for sure.
If you plan to stick around your private happy hour session, the restaurant offers a nice selection of shareable bites and savory entrees. The menu is filled with familiar favorites like house-made guacamole and delicious braised pork tacos to name a few. The restaurant’s Signature Burger gets rave reviews, or hit the bar to continue with the signature sangria pitchers to match your mood!
