I love going to formal events.  I love getting dressed up in a beautiful gown, getting my makeup and hair done to look flawless.  Plus, styling formal dresses is just so fun, at least in my opinion. Formal events can be tricky to dress for but with prom season upon us and wedding season already in full force finding the perfect black tie dress can be tricky, time consuming and expensive. However, I found the most amazing, gorgeous one shoulder black maxi dress on ASOS and the best part is that it was available for a very reasonable price.

This black one shoulder tulle gown is the perfect dress to wear to your next formal event. It’s only $103, compared to most tulle gowns that is a bargain, and fits beautifully.  I wore this dress in a size 8 which was a bit big on me. I normally wear a size 4 so I would recommend only going up one size up instead of two. Regardless, I was able to have it easily taken in for me so it was ready to be worn to some upcoming formal events that I have on my calendar. The one catch with this dress is that the back of it is very low and very open so you must be comfortable going bra less.  The fabric in the front of the dress is very well made so it didn’t make my boobs didn’t look like weird triangles or show any cold nips. This dress is the perfect black formal gown, I instantly fell in love with it the second I took it out of the box.

Here’s how I styled it.  I wanted to add a pop of color as I’m not used to wearing black so I had to jazz it up with something really special.  I chose to wear these Kendra Scott Jenni Rose Gold statement earrings in abalone mix. The pops of turquoise were what drew me to add these statement earrings to my look.  I then decided to wear a sleek and chic ponytail to show off my earrings. These earrings are available in three colorways and are really gorgeous no matter which colorway you get.

Lastly, I added this stunning, small Rebecca Minkoff crossbody in optic white.  It’s a leather crocodile fabric with silver hardware. I just love a great white bag for summer to wear to formal events.  The combination of the white against the black gown was simply stunning. My earrings really made the biggest statement and tied the whole look together.  Plus, my eyes looked insanely green against the gorgeous turquoise of these earrings.
