All black everything…it speaks to the core of my being! And on today’s blog post I’m bringing an alternative to the classic little black dress for my take on an updated fun party outfit!
December was a whirlwind of holiday themed festivities. I’ve already made good on some of my recent purchases from Amazon, including this faux leather mini skirt. What peaked my interest was it’s asymmetrical hem with side split. I thought this detail would look super flattering on and sure enough, when I wore it out, I was an instant fan.
It has a bit of a pencil skirt fit so it hugs your curves but not in a restricting way. It definitely has enough give to feel comfortable and I wasn’t at all worried about busting out of it, lol. When deciding how to pair my pieces of an outfit, I like to keep the details balanced. So because my mini is short and fitted, I went with a substantial black chunky knit sweater. It has an oversized fit, with batwing sleeves and a cowl neck making it for one of the comfiest sweaters I own and I loved the combo of the two pieces together!
This look can easily be styled with pointy toed pumps, strappy heels or chic booties, but this mini skirt was asking to be worn with my favorite over the knee boots, which you guessed it, I found it on Amazon. Especially with the cooler temps here in New York, I also don’t mind the added coverage the boots provide!
I had the perfect glitter clutch to complement my outfit giving me just the right amount of sparkle to make it festive for the holiday festivities I was on my way to and added a little bit of bling with a gold cuff bracelet and sparkly hoops.
Both my sweater and skirt are versatile enough to mix and match with other pieces in your closet, so can easily get your return on wear investment with either of these. If you pick any up, be sure to snap a pic and tag me on Instagram…would love to see how you styled it!
