Where To Stay:

If you are looking to head to Foxwoods Resort Casino for the weekends, The Fox Tower hotel is definitely the best place to stay. The room was very spacious and spotless. It had a giant window that took up the whole wall to enjoy nature’s beautiful view. It also had a small sitting area by the window with a comfy chair, and a very large bathroom. I have never heard anybody in the rooms around us and the casino was right downstairs for easy access. The walk between the two hotels and casinos was a bit far. It probably takes about ten minutes depending on if you are a power walker. But don’t worry about that walk, they actually have moving walkways in case you are feeling a little lazy. If you are like me and eat a ton, you won’t mind a good ten minute hike after to work off all that food. Good thing I wore my seven inch heels for that hike, I got a killer calf workout.

Shopping:

If you are looking for some alternatives to gambling or want to splurge with some of your winnings, Tanger Outlets is located inside Foxwoods Resort Casino and it connects with Grand Pequot Tower with plenty of stores to choose from. Among the long list of stores, some of my favorites include Kate Spade, Sunglass Hut and Nike. I ended up scoring a new pair of Versace sunglasses at Sunglass Hut. Make sure to try and get your hands on a coupon book at one of the information desk for further discounts on some of your favorite stores as well as some coupons to the restaurants on the property. The coupon book is free if you are part of AAA.

Food:

The good thing is there are over 30 restaurants in the Foxwood complex so there is something for everyone. From a donut and coffee at Dunkin Donuts, a quick sandwich at Panera or a fancy sit down meal at David Burke Prime, you will definitely find something you like!

Cedars Steak House

If you are heading there on a weekend, make sure to secure reservations as there can be a bit of a wait. Even though I had reservations for 7pm on a Saturday, I had arrived at 6:55 and wasn’t seated until 7:20. You have the option to eat in the lounge or in the dining area. We opted to eat in the dining area. After being seated, they served warm assorted breads with butter and our waitress came over right away to take our orders. What we ate: For appetizers, we ordered Cedars stuffed mushrooms, Chicken fried ribs (which was my favorite of the whole meal), and Cedars secret recipe garlic bread, which came with a three cheese fondue. For our main course, we ordered twin stuffed cold water lobster tails and Steak Frites, “The best in the building”, which was cooked to absolute perfection! Even with the restaurant being so busy, the service was great. Pricing is approximately $65 per person including one drink.

Sugar Factory

The Sugar Factory is best known for its smoking, boozy big goblets and world-famous “Couture Pops”, which are bedazzled lollipops meant to be an accessory and a sweet treat. These pops have made their way to red carpets and have been endorsed by many celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Britney Spears, Kim Kardashian and a long list of others. They create these drinks that look like they are straight from Willy Wonka. I decided to start with their signature 36oz Lollipop Passion Goblet ($36). It can serve up to four people but with so many pretty drink options and picture opportunities I didn’t want to share of course. It is a combination of Absolut Citron vodka, Malibu coconut rum, Midori melon liqueur, pineapple juice and Sprite. It’s poured table-side onto dry ice creating a bright green bubbling effect and topped with unicorn lollipops and a candy necklace. Make sure you have your phone ready when they come by with the drink for a fun boomerang video. For those who are under age and don’t like alcohol, all the drinks can all be ordered without alcohol.

Recommended Dishes at The Sugar Factory:

Traditional French Toast ($10.95). Thick sliced brioche bread, sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon. Served with whipped butter and warm maple syrup.

Garbage Salad ($16) Don’t be fooled by the name, this salad doesn’t taste at all like garbage and will most likely satisfy anyone’s appetite. Loaded with all the good fixins. Romaine lettuce, Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Avocado, Salami, Pepperoni, Mozzarella, Provolone and Croutons with a Lemon Herb Vinaigrette. I asked to change mine to Balsamic Vinaigrette.

World Famous Sugar Factory King Kong Sundae ($50) This beast serves 6 people but can easily feed 10! They also offer one for $99 that serves 12.

The Sugar Factory isn’t only just a sit down restaurant but they also have a sweet shop with over 300 candies to choose from. Make sure to make reservations before going. The line was very long on a Saturday night and about a hour wait.
