Continuing on my European extravaganza on Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of The Sea’s, Riga, Latvia was my next destination. If you visit the Baltics, a visit to the capital of Latvia, Riga, is a must stop on your travels. If you find yourself in Riga for one day only like we had on the cruise, you can rest assure this is the perfect city to unwind and relax. Riga is the perfect one day stop with enough to keep you busy for a day but there isn’t too much that you are feeling very rushed.

What to see:

Old Town Square

The city’s main attraction for tourist is the Old Town Square. This is a beautiful square with amazing architecture. You’ll find yourself winding through cobblestone roads, admiring the sculptures on the walls. This is a very clean and tidy looking square and is a great meeting place for tourist with a ton of outside bars and restaurants. Let’s not forget, it’s a fabulous photo opportunity.

Saint Peter’s Church

Although I’ve seen enough churches in Europe to last me about a lifetime, what’s one more! Located a quick walk from the Old Town is Saint Peter’s Church.

What to wear in June:

The weather was a comfortable 60 to 70 degrees the day I visited. Summer temperatures seem to max out at about 75 degrees, but the weather in Latvia was a very nice change from the frigid temperatures I had been experiencing in other countries along my cruise journey. The weather was nice enough to wear shorts and sandals. I decided to break out my fun gold star Steve Madden sandals again. They are the perfect sandal that looks cool yet is comfortable enough to walk around all day doing touristy things. Bringing a light cardigan is always a good idea since it can get a little chilly with the wind. It’s always easier to take off layers instead of adding, as the weather in Europe can be a bit tricky at times. Since pickpocketing is big in this area, it is a good idea to bring a smaller bag. I used this Madewell crossbody bag with a closed front that I could throw in front of my body. It is not to big and not too small, but just enough to carry all my necessities.

Thank you RyanStylesNyc for photobombing all my photos. Just kidding! I love you!
